New Reading List: Book Thela

There are times when life surprises you with new things, and there are times when you surprise yourself with what you love the most!

And for me, it can be nothing but a new pile of books. Here’s my new pile of books freshly arrived from Book Thela, one of the best online second-hand bookselling platforms. This is my third lot from them and I am surprised by the quality of the books again and again. They are as good as new. As I have received the same today itself, I need time to read and review them. Till then I would just give a snapshot of the books along with the snapshot of the story.

This time I have purchased five books and a snapshot of the same goes like this --

1.       Oh, Carol! -- Carol McGiffin
“As uniquely entertaining, funny and completely outrageous as the lady herself, Oh, Carol! is a must-read for women everywhere! Carol McGiffin has been on Loose Women for nearly a decade, and she is one of the most-loved presenters on the show. She's brimming with brilliantly funny anecdotes and controversial opinions and says all the things everyone thinks but would never dream of saying. Carol is a natural storyteller and she's lived quite a life!”

This is definitely going to be a roller coaster read.

2.       Notes from an Exhibition -- Patrick Gale
“When troubled artist Rachel Kelly dies painting obsessively in her attic studio in Penzance, her saintly husband and adult children have more than the usual mess to clear up. She leaves behind an extraordinary and acclaimed body of work - but she also leaves a legacy of secrets and emotional damage that will take months to unravel.”

Already sounds interesting to me.

3.       Nine Uses for an Ex-Boyfriend -- Sarra Manning
“Hope has Jack, and Jack is the God of boyfriends. He's sweet, kind, funny, has a killer smile, a cool job on a fashion magazine and he's pretty (but in a manly way). Hope knew that Jack was The One ever since their first kiss after the Youth Club Disco and thirteen years later, they're still totally in love. Totally. They're even officially pre-engaged. And then Hope catches Jack kissing her best friend Susie...”

Quite a love story it’s going to be.

4.       The Memory Book -- Rowan Coleman
"When Claire starts to write her Memory Book, she already knows that this scrapbook of mementos will soon be all her daughters and husband have of her. But how can she hold onto the past when her future is slipping through her fingers...?"

Sounds pretty interesting and I plan to start with this.

5.       A Perfectly Good Man -- Patrick Gale
“The novel opens with a parishioner's suicide: 20-year-old Lenny, paralyzed in a rugby accident and about to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, asks the priest to visit, only to swallow poison in front of him. Shocked, Barnaby prays for him – then offers himself up for arrest. It's a credit to Gale's sly yet wholly plausible plotting that I neither guessed, nor ever doubted, the events and revelations which follow.”

Another novel by Patrick Gale that I picked up reading the reviews of his works. They sound intense and captivating.

I will start with The Memory Book and share my review as soon as I finish, followed by the remaining ones.
