New Year Resolutions 2015

Being the first post of the year, let me begin with a wish for all of you for
A Very Happy & Blessed New Year 2015.

New Beginnings are always thrilling and full of energy. Wishes are showered from every corner of the World and people start their lives with new zeal and positive energy.
With the New Year, follows the new set of New Year Resolutions which makes the start of the year with some specific goals. However, till last year I never believed in making resolutions and planning. I have always been in favour of taking life the way it comes. But one cannot deny the importance of directions in life, without which we end up beating around the bush without knowing what we are actually looking for in life. My list for the year is simple, yet full of meaningful resolutions for my New Year, which will make me a little better and a little wiser by the end of this year, thereby improving my quality of life.
Here are the ten things that I have resolved and those I think I will carry on for the rest of my life as well:

1.    Meditation / Yoga

“Half an hour's meditation each day is essential, except when you are busy. Then a full hour is needed” – Saint Francis de Sales

The one thing that I want to gift myself this year is Meditation and Yoga. Our busy corporate life and a demanding family life drains out all the energy from us leaving no room for rejuvenation. We run our races throughout the day in the middle of the crowd and fail to listen to our inner voice which actually guides us in our lives. So one thing that I planned to take up this year is Meditation and Yoga. Meditation for my mental and emotional well-being and Yoga for physical strength.

2.            Read

“Reading is a conversation. All books talk. But a good book listens as well.”
– Mark Haddon

As they say, the one who doesn't read have no advantage over the one who can’t read. So the second resolution this year is to make it a Bookish Year. I plan to read more than last year. Read as many books as possible, maintain a journal of what I read and how I felt about it. We spend hours in Social Networking Sites gazing at the events of our friends, better to cut that that time down and focus on reading which is not only informative but has other important benefits as well.

3.            Write
“Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.”
– E.L. Doctorow

To write is to paint your imagination through words. It not only opens your heart but also your builds up an inner relationship with yourself. More than my secret ambition of being a famous writer, I want to write this year to bring out the best in me. I want to write for myself first so that I can write for everyone.

4.            Cook

“I'm just someone who likes cooking and for whom sharing food is a form of expression”
-- Maya Angelou

To cook is to mix all the love and prepare something for your loved one. Beyond that to be healthy in life, it’s more important to have healthy food. So this year, I plan to cook my food always and eat without any guilty feeling. No worry about calories and counts.  Being a long lost hobby I want to bring back my culinary skills and put on my chef cap once again and create the magic of taste and health that will light up my life and of course that of my friend’s.

5.            De-clutter
“Clear Your Stuffs, Clear Your Mind”
– Eric M Riddle

Like every other girl I too have a cupboard full of clothes which have either grown old or have been outsized. I have decided to donate my excess stuffs this year. Be it old clothes or shoes or other items of daily use, I am going to de clutter my life and help the ones in need by sharing what I have in excess. While I had a fight with someone over this, I learnt a very big lesson in my life, i.e. BUY WHAT YOU NEED. I am going to follow that. This way I will save my money as well as my space where I am living.

6.            Travel
“Wherever You Go, Becomes a Part of You Somehow”
– Anita Desai

A part of me craves to travel and live in distant lands, but the demanding career and family life made it difficult all these days. As a resolution, I want to pick it up and do travel more often this year. Even if it means only upto a distance of 50 kms, still I will travel this year. To be on the move is one agenda of my life from now on.

7.            Build Up Myself

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”
– Tony Robbins

No more directionless attempts. I am all set to take charge and change things around myself this year. Be it my career or my social life, I look forward to a new start. Not because I don’t like my existing life, but because I want to try new things. Decide on my career path and plan to stand out of the crowd.

8.            Learn New Things

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
-- Mahatma Gandhi

The only way of life should be learning. It’s only by learning that we grow and evolve. So I plan to learn new things this year, both out of my interest as well as my personal growth. We only stop growing when we stop Learning, so the year will be a full planned learning experience.

9.            Stay Connected

“Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike.”
– J.K. Rowling

Over the time, being busy with regular work we end up forgetting our best friends, childhood crush, families and many more. Staying connected is one thing that I have been trying to follow since long. I have realized that I have lost touch with many of my close friends from School, College and university. So my next task would be to revive all the friendships and relationships (Of course not in every sense) in this year so that 2015 comes to an end with more closed ones. The idea of connectivity will not be through Social Networking but the very old fashioned idea of meeting in person and chat for long.

10.         Move On

“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.”
– Robert Frost

Last but not the least I want to forgive and forget all those who have been difficult to me and believe that they had their own reasons for that. That they have done the best that they could have, at their situation. I forgive all of them and move on in life building new relationships and writing new stories, so that tomorrow if I meet any of them, I can smile and thank them for being a part of my journey.

So these are what I have planned for myself, if you have any better idea, do share with me!!!

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year 2015
